Open Space and Greenway Map Drafts Will be Presented at Oct. 19 Planning Board Meeting.
A message from Pat Hoferkamp, Hopatcong's Environmental Commission public relations manager:
The initial draft of the open space and greenway maps as part of the borough's 2010 Update to the 2002 Open Space and Recreation Plan will be presented at the Oct. 19 planning board meeting at borough hall at 7:30 p.m.
This draft maps and goals for the plan update, and will be presented by the Land Conservancy of New Jersey as well as a project team of local residents. All Hopatcong residents are invited to attend this meeting.
The open space plan is a guide for the protection and preservation of open space in our community and explains why and how it will be protected. Goals and principles of the plan would include initiatives such as: providing adequate space for recreational programs and facilities, creating new trail connections and linkages, maintaining water quality, protecting sensitive environmental features and historic areas and coordinating programs with surrounding communities. This is a long-term plan that will articulate Hopatcong's vision for its future, in terms of open space. Community participation and input is important and encouraged.
