1,900 Homes Should Have Power Sunday Night, Mayor Told

Halloween cancelled for Monday due to unsafe roads.

There will be no Halloween on Monday, but on the bright side, nearly 2,000 Hopatcong homes will no longer be in the dark by Sunday night, Mayor Sylvia Petillo was told by JCP&L.

According to Petillo, 1,900 borough JCP&L customers will have power restored on Sunday and 300 more expected on Monday.

About 72 percent of Hopatcong remained without power Sunday afternoon with 4,694 outages as of about 2 p.m.

Due to the unsafe road conditions, trick-or-treating has been cancelled in Hopatcong.

The high school shelter remains open and pets are welcome. Petillo said if residents don't have their own crates, the high school can provide them with one.
