$35K in Rec Improvements on Council's Agenda
Governing body looks to approve two new municipal employees.
The Hopatcong Mayor and Council is set to meet for its regular gathering on Wednesday, and there are a few items on the agenda of note.
A motion is currently in order to adopt an ordinance appropriating $35,000 from the municipal open space recreation trust for the purpose of recreational improvements.
The council is also looking to approve two resolutions that would each allow for the hiring of a full-time Hopatcong Department of Public Works staff member, according to the agenda.
One of those positions is for Christy Rehe, who will be a full-time staff member and part of the administration.
The meeting is open to the public and begins at 7:30 p.m.

Isn't the meeting on Wednesday? Or is the meeting open to the public on Thursday when no one will be there?

What does DPW do now that trash pickup has been farmed out?
Don't go off the deep end, I'm just asking a simple question.

Mr. Jazzman-You really have no clue. Why don't you volunteer to jump in a truck and spend the day with these guys. When you see one of them "standing around looking for 3 o'clock" are you sure they aren't waiting on equipment, or tools, or something they need to get the job done? Are you sure they aren't on break? I was married to a Hopatcong DPW worker for ten years and as much as it pains me to say something supportive of the guy I can tell you first hand he came home dirty, sweaty, and exhausted. Also, I don't know what your job is but are you out in public open to the scrutiny of others? Do people assume you are doing nothing when you are actually doing something? I'm sure you've NEVER taken a personal phone call on the job right? I'm sure you've NEVER been on the computer and looking at something that had nothing to do with your work. I'm sure you've NEVER taken an extra five minutes on your lunch break. I'm sure you've NEVER chatted with a co-worker about Sunday's game while on company time. I'm sure you wouldn't do any of the aforementioned because if you have surely you wouldn't sit in judgement of others, especially if you didn't know all the details.

On Wednesday afternoons you can find 3-4 DPW employees at the landfill making sure that there is only leaves in your bags when you go there. My kind of job. Now they need to hire someone else full time to bring them their coffee.
