This is a rash generalization re the voting patterns of veterans in this District: "...I know of no other veteran who thinks Mr. Frelinghuysen doesn’t care about veterans...."
My husband is a proud veteran and HAS NEVER voted for Rodney Frelinghuysen and NEVER WILL.

NO Mr. Miller, the "sad commenatary" on politics today is a POS like Frelinghuysen in the House of Representatives. Mr. Foley was completely accurate in his assessment of Rod and his lack of support for the troops and he has the facts to back it up, you have nothing to support what you say. AND Frelinyhusen's total disregard for women's health, women's choices, Food & Nutrition programs for children and the elderly (including SNAP)...check his voting record in the House. And don't get me going on the environmental issues. Rod F. is not a representative of you or me or any middle class person in District 11 and if you don't see that then are very ignorant and should not be writing letters to the editor.

What did Mr. Frelinghuysen do for decades in Congress while this country is being destroyed from the inside, middle class has been decimated, and the veterans, particularly those from Afghanistan return to no jobs, no education, no future? Yes, he's a nice person, but it is time for him to go.

I disagree completely. Attacking Congressman Frelinghuysen as old or feeble, which happens quite a bit, would be a sad commentary on the state of political discourse in this country. Calling him out for saying one thing and voting another, which Mr. Foley did, is exactly how the process is supposed to work.

Congressman Frelinghuysen is the man. All this talk is just propaganda not to have him reelected again. I think that all the readers should keep the fact in mind that this little blurb here on Patch is another sad, negative campaign against him. Don't even think twice!

I've been waiting and hoping for someone to replace Sir Rodney for YEARS. He certainly doesn't represent me, and is only holding onto his job because of his NAME.

But since he's a Republican here in Morris County, it's unlikely that he'll ever get voted out of office.

As for his veteran status; BFD. It means nothing.

HOW is Rodney keeping his job because of his name? THAT is just the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. Rodney has kept his job all these years because the majority of VOTERS in his District have chosen to have him represent us. This is NOT "The People's Republic of Hussain Obama" just yet, so let the voters and the political election process best determine who will represent this District in Congress,,, I am sure our President and Emporer for Life will appoint a more "appropriate Progressive Communist" as our Congressman once he has enforced Martial Law and suspended the election process...

Rodney keeps his job because we have too many party line voters who blindly pull ''G.O.P.'' (AKA ''Greed Over People'') in white bread Morris. If Beezelbub ran under the GOP banner, the electorate here would vote for him. Rodney has that ''Patrician, 1 % charm'' just like the other guy the Mormon, and that appeals to the people who vote robotically. Mr. ''Bummpo'' missed his chance here to go to the ''birther'' theory, another totally discredited Republican tactic, like ''Communist'' - laughable actually.

At least Mr. Foley cited some facts in his analysis. Perhaps if you substantiated your claims your commentary would have more credence.

Last Friday, Sept. 28, we had a SRO event that featured - among other notables - Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen. There were constituents from both sides of the political divide and the overwhelming consensus was that no one had ever recalled hearing the Congressman display as much passion as was evident in his talk at Morristown Tea Party Org meeting. Obviously, Rodney is VERY much vested with the upcoming election results and also the next election cycles in New Jersey. I urged folks - before and afterwards - to take advantage of this opportunity to dialog - one on one - and present cogent arguments - or points of view - to the Congressman. As intelligent and concerned people THIS is how we effectuate change - not by name calling or simply wishing that things would be different. As former Democratic Speaker of the House, Thomas P. So Mr. Foley, who is a U.S. veteran, offers his opinion on his own congressman’s voting record, and offers specific examples to support this opinion. Mr. Miller then takes issue with Mr. Foley’s column but offers absolute nothing of substance to show why Mr. Foley’s opinion is incorrect, or why he disagrees with it, and then calls Mr. Foley’s piece a “sad commentary”. I wonder if Mr. Miller even sees the irony in that.

Rep. Frelinghuysen has recently been given a 0 by the ARA indicating an anti-senior voting record.

That's a new one on me. I am presently a member of AMAC. At age 50 ten years ago I joined AARP for 3 years at $27 total, but didn't renew it because in 2004 AARP endorsed John Kerry which they said was based upon a questionaire sent to all of their members but I did not get one and know others who didn't either. I did get about $100 in discounts for stays at hotels and I still get them today.
