Over the course of one minute and 42 seconds, several pilots reported icing conditions, with Air Traffic Control noting "severe" icing conditions at 14,000 feet.
Pilot Jeffrey F. Buckalew asked about these conditions during the communications and then signed off. It would be the last communications he would make to Air Traffic Control before his plane, also containing a business associate, his dog, and his wife and two children, crashed onto Route 287 in Morris Township on Dec. 20.
