Looking for something to do in Hopatcong this weekend?

There are five—count 'em, FIVE!—fun events happening in the borough this weekend. But if none of them tickle your fancy—whatever that means—we've got a list of cool stuff going on around Hopatcong, too. Check it out below. 

Girl Scouts Car Wash
When/Where: Sunday at Lakeside Tire in Hopatcong at 10 a.m.
Why Go: Because your car is dirty and you want to support a borough non-profit.
Cost: $5.

Walk for an Angel
When/Where: Saturday at noon to 3 p.m. at the Hopatcong High School track—rain or shine.
Why Go: To benefit Anna, 6-year-old with cancer at the St. Jude's Cancer Research Hospital.
Cost: Bring your wallet.

Hudson Farms Charity Hike
When/Where: At Hudson Farms at 270 Sparta-Stanhope Road from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
Why Go: Because for each year you've lived, Hudson Farms will donate a dollar to a borough charity of your choice.
Cost: Free.

Hunger Walk
When/Where: At 2 p.m. Sunday at the Department of Public Works in Hopatcong. A shuttle will take walkers to Veterans Field, and then they'll trek to Modick Park.
Why Go: To raise money for a great cause—helping local homeless and families in need.
Cost: Bring your wallet.

 Little League Tricky Tray
When/Where: At 6 p.m. Friday at St. Jude's Church in Hopatcong
Why Go: To help out Little League, one of the borough's biggest youth sports organizations.
Cost: Bring your wallet.

Armed Forces Relief Benefit
When/Where: From 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Pavinci Italian Grill.
Why Go: Because you want to aid the nation's servicemen, the ones who risked their lives to protect yours.
Cost: Bring your wallet and expect fun, music and food. 

Jefferson Rescue Squad Open House
When/Where: Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Rescue Squad Building
Why Go: To check out the facility, get some food and maybe donate blood, if you choose.
Cost: Free

Pet Adoption Day
When/Where: Saturday 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Jefferson Animal Shelter
Why Go: Because who doesn't want a furry friend?
Cost: Free

Relay for Life Luvinspoonful Team Garage Sale
When/Where: Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m. at American Legion Post 423
Why Go: To support the team as it helps fight cancer
Cost: No admission, but bring your wallet

Summer Concerts Open House
When/Where: Sunday from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Art Bonito Amphitheatre at Camp Jefferson
Why Go: To get your tickets to the hottest concert series in Jefferson
Cost: Free admission, but tickets range from $10 - $20

Free Bike to Work Breakfast
When/Where: Friday, 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Marty's Reliable Cycle, Morristown
Why Go: You're riding your bike to work and wouldn't mind a free continental breakfast.|
Cost: Free

Fridays on the Green Concert Series
When/Where: Friday, noon at The Presbyterian Church in Morristown
Why Go: This week, it's the children's program "Travels with Tricksters," and you want to entertain your kids.
Cost: Free

Bowfire
When/Where: Friday, 8 p.m. at Mayo Performing Arts Center, Morristown
Why Go: You want to see a dazzling lineup of fiddle and violin virtuosos.
Cost: $37 to $62

Charity Garage Sale
When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Prudential Real Estate, Morristown
Why Go: The annual event helps raise funds for The Sunshine Kids Foundation. You also may find some cool stuff.
Cost: Bring your wallet

Washington Valley Schoolhouse Open House
When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. at the Washington Valley Schoolhouse, Morris Township
Why Go: You want to check out this 1869 schoolhouse and learn about the area's agricultural past.
Cost: Free

Morristown Alleycat Race
When/Where: Saturday, 3 p.m. from the Green in Morristown
Why Go: You want to help kick off Bike and Walk Morristown's annual "Bike-o-Rama" week with a fun event.

Jerzey Derby Brigade Bout
When/Where: Saturday, 6:30 p.m. at Inline Morristown
Why Go: You can't get enough roller derby action!

'A Celebration of Classic Masters'
When/Where: Saturday, 8 p.m. at Morristown United Methodist Church
Why Go: You want to hear the works of the "classic masters," like Beethoven and Mozart.

Superhero Half Marathon and Relay
When/Where: Sunday, 8:30 a.m. from Ginty Field, Morris Township
Why Go: You're a runner, or would like to be one; you want to support charitable events; you like to dress up as a superhero.

Decades of Excellence Family Festival
When/Where: Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. at Morristown High School
Why Go: You want to enjoy a fun afternoon with friends, food and activities.

5K Walkathon
 When/Where: Saturday, 8 a.m. registration, 9 a.m. race start at Central Park of Morris County
Why Go: You enjoy walking or running, and want to help an educational charity.Cost: $20
Rummage SaleWhen/Where: Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 12-6 pm. at the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains
Why Go: To find great bargains and support the church's teen mission trip.

Multi-Vendor Garage Sale
When/Where: Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Morris Plains
Why Go: To make money and get rid of old stuff, or find bargains from others.
Cost: $20 for vendors to participate

Senior Shabbat and Yiddish Folklore Service
When/Where: Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Temple Beth Am, 879 S. Beverwyck Road, Parsippany
Why Go: To honor seniors and experience the beauty of the Jewish sabbath at this community-wide observance
Cost: Free

Parsippany Presbyterian Rummage Sale
When/Where: Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at Parsippany Presbyterian Church, 1675 Route 46, Parsippany
Why Go: To get some great buys and justify it with the knowledge that all proceeds benefit the church's hurricane relief efforts in the Gulf Coast
Cost: No admission, but bring your wallet.

Woman's Club of PTH Garage Sale
When/Where: Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at 8 Princess St., Parsippany
Why Go: To support the Womans' Club and find great bargains including a large selection of household goods, books, small furniture, linens, luggage, handbags and more
Cost: It's free to get in, but bring cash to buy.

Masala Bhangra Fitness Classes
When/Where: Saturday at 10 a.m. at 243 Route 46, Parsippany
Why Go: To go off the beaten path in an effort to get fit

The Hudson Farm Charity Hike on Saturday is always a lot of fun and it is a no-cost benefit to local organizations (Hopatcong School PTOs, Fire Department, CERT, PBA Local 149 and Youth Sports Organizations). The weather is suppose to be great and the Hudson Farm trails feature some gorgeous local scenery (including the shores of Bear Pond).

BTW concerning the Hudson Farm Charity Hike on Saturday, I heard from the organizers that Cablevision will be covering the event (community access TV).

Brendan, According to the St. Jude's bulletin, the Hunger Walk starts at 2:20 PM. I believe the shuttle bus leaves the DPW building at 2:00 PM, not 10:00 AM.

Hopatcong Hawks Track is hosting the Lakeland Relays at the high school on Friday night at 6:00. Come out and support our Hopatcong kids track team!
