Warriors: Help Us Raise Money for New Football Field
Program reaches out to borough residents to participate in Chris Anderson Memorial Golf Fundraiser in September.
The following is from the Hopatcong Warriors.
We hope you'll come out and support the Hopatcong Warriors football program at the Chris Anderson Annual Golf Outing on Sept. 13.
The Chris Anderson field committee's objective is to raise funds in order to achieve a facility for the Hopatcong Warriors. Since the inception of the Hopatcong Warriors youth football and cheer-leading organization they have been operating without the proper facilities to practice and play games. Currently practice is mostly on town fields which are baseball fields and playing games on the high school football field. While the program respects what has been available to them it's time to move forward and operate with its own facility.
Back in November of 2007 Chris Anderson passed away after serving 5 years as the programs president. After many conversations and late nights talking about how to get the program a home where it could house our entire program, we started to think of fundraisers to achieve that dream. That November day when Chris fell to his tragic death, we the family and friends started the field of dreams quest. With the support of the Hopatcong Warriors and family and friends, we have come up with two fundraisers a year to support this cause. One being the annual Chris Anderson Golf Outing and the second being, the Chris Anderson Field of Dreams Music Festival.
Chris was about the kids no matter whether they played sports or not. He often could be found at any and all programs where kids would gather. Always helping, joking, assisting, encouraging or just around to listen to whatever was on their minds. He was a man who respected all of the kids and never passed judgment. He was a great role model for the kids.
