There were a few tears from parents and students that welcomed the first day of school at Hudson Maxim School on Thursday. Principal Tracey Hensz noted that there were many "bus followers," or parents that put their children on the bus and then follow the bus to school to watch the kids get off, who were on hand. Also noted was the "kiss and go" policy for drop offs of the first graders.

Check out the gallery above from the first day of a new school year.

Hope you have a great school year, Mrs. Hensz. You are the BEST principal I've ever known. You are definitely in it for the kids. Thank you so much for all the help you provided throughout the two years my son was in Hudson Maxim under your care.

Good Luck Kids! - Now lets hope Hopatcong Police and Town Officials monitor River Styx Road for the on-going speeding and idiots driving along this roadway, something needs to be done from the bridge to the municipal building

Terry - Those were beautiful photos they really captured the spirit of the first day of school. They brought a smile to my face and reminded me on what is great about Hopatcong - Parent, teacher, and kid enthusiasm for our Schools. Hope this spirit continues till the end of the school year.

It is only a matter of time before some precious, little child is killed by a speeding car, truck or BUS on Lackawanna Trail. I had to jump into my car when my open door was almost torn off. Numerous complaints have been made. Nothing has been done. SLOW DOWN FOR GOD'S SAKE. THE EXTRA SECOND YOU SAVE IS NOT WORTH THE PAIN AND SUFFERING YOUR CARELESS DRIVING CAN CAUSE.
