Get Out! Car Show at Hopatcong Church

Cars and bikes and crafts! Oh, my!

 

Love old-school cars? About about gnarly Harleys? Well, we might have something for you.

St. Jude's Church will host the Knights of Columbus 3rd Annual Car, Bike and Craft Show on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Trophies will be given to the top 10 cars and motorcycles.

It'll cost $15 to register on the day of the event. But it's free if you're planning to watch, and why not enjoy some time away from the TV on the weekend?

Senior Yoga Classes 
Where/When: From 11 to 12:45 a.m. on Thursday at the Washington Township Senior Citizen Center in Long Valley.
Why Go: Because the center will be offering two types of yoga classes, including chair yoga and gentle yoga, directed by instructor Charlene Gattuso.
Pricing: $10 per class, or $37 for six classes.

Running Company Beginner Group Runs
Where/When: From 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Morristown Running Company.
Why Go: Because you are a beginner who wants to start running, regardless of age.
Pricing: Free.

The Mothers’ Club
Where/When: From 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday at Postpartum Place in Chatham.
Why Go: Mothers and their babies can come to this fun, social time and receive expert advice in a safe and supportive environment. 
Pricing: Free.

Friends of the Library Book Sale
When/Where: From 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m on Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday at the Bridgewater Township Library.
Why Go: To pick up some great titles while benefitting the library.
Pricing: Pricing varies.

'The Power of 9' Art Exhibition
Where/When: From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at the Arts Council of the Morris Area.
Why Go: Because this art exhibit will feature 40 unique works by eight professional artists.
Pricing: Free.

Smooth Sounds at the Famished Frog
Where/When: At 11 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at The Famished Frog in Morristown.
Why Go: To enjoy great live music.
Price: No cover.

Medicinal Plants of the Civil War
Where/When: At 11 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township.
Why Go: Because this exhibit, inspired by a collection of rare books at the arboretum, will focus on the roll of medical botany during the Civil War.
Price: Free.

Joan Lamensdorf Art Exhibit
Where/When: From 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Harding Gallery.
Why Go: Because you can spend a Friday night with some wine and some beautifully serene landscapes made with pastels.
Pricing: Free.

Kip & Mr. Microphone
Where/When: From 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday KaBob's at the Northwood Inn.
Why Go: To bring the whole family by and belt out some tunes with Kip.
Pricing: Free.

Family Yoga
Where/When: From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Jefferson Township Public Library.
Why Go: Because families can enjoy the benefits of yoga by learning a variety of classic poses, presented by Michelle Magnotti of Yoga Flows Inc.
Pricing: Free.

A Special Night of Ridge Football
When/Where: At 7 p.m. on Friday at Lee Field at Ridge High School in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: Because it's a special night of honoring children with special needs as the Red Devils Boys Varsity Football team competes against Phillipsburg High School on home turf.
Pricing: Free admission to special needs football fans. Pre-registered children will receive shirts. All ages can attend with their families on the game day without registration.

WWE Legends and an Evening of Pro Wrestling
When/Where: At 7:45 p.m. on Friday at Long Hill Township Community Center in Long Hill Township.
Why Go: Because Steve "Monsta" Mack and Devon Dudley don't need to mind their manners with Stirling's first ever "We Want Tables Match," where the loser must get put through a table. It's a night of wrestling superstars and fun that benefits the needy throughout Somserset County.
Pricing: $20.

Dave Ramsy Business Leadership Simulcast
When/Where: From 9:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday at Stonecrest Community Church in Warren.
Why Go: Because it's a live simulcast seminar with author and radio host Dave Ramsey on how to lead a team and grow a business using Biblical principles of finance and management.
Pricing: $39 registration fee. Boxed lunch $6. Registration required.

Wompy's World of Musical Play
When/Where: At 10 a.m. on Friday at The Warren Township Library in Warren.
Why Go: Because children ages 6 months to 3 years old will enjoy puppets, props, and musical instruments during this interactive musical theater class. Caregivers are welcome to join in the fun.
Pricing: Free. Registration required.

Stories and Songs
When/Where: At 10 a.m. on Friday at Hillsborough Public Library.
Why Go: For children ages 2 to 6 to enjoy interactive stories and musical activities with library friends.
Pricing: Free. Registration required.

Shakespeare's 'The War of the Roses: Henry VI, Part 1'
Where/When: At 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Brundage Park Playhouse, 2 Bungalow Lane in Randolph.
Why Go: Because this adaptation combines Shakespeare’s Henry VI Part I with the first three acts of Part 2—it packs a whole lot of the Bard into one show.
Pricing: $10

Prepare to be Terrified
Where/When: From 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday at 229 Main Street in Belleville.
Why Go: Halloween is coming, and the State Scare Haunted Attraction promises to terrify you.
Pricing: $15 to $30.

"Cactus Flower"
When/Where: At 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Villagers Theatre in Somerset.
Why Go: It's your last chance to see this prickly comedy about unexpected love.
Pricing: $16 for adults, $14 for seniors and students.

100 Years of Motorcycles
Where/When: From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Morris Museum in Morris Township.
Why Go: Because this exhibit will feature some of the coolest bikes from the past 100 years.
Pricing: $10 for adults, or $7 for children, students and seniors.

'Othello' Playing at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey
Where/When: From 8 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Madison.
Why Go: Because a night at the theater sounds like a great way to spend your weekend. Plus, this play hasn’t been seen on The Shakespeare Theatre stage since 2003.
Pricing: $32 to $55.

Dog Adoption
Where/When: From 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Terry's Pet Depot in Morris Plains.
Why Go: Because you can find the newest member of your family.
Pricing: Adoption prices vary.

Saturday Morning Road Ride
Where/When: Starting at Marty’s Reliable Cycle in Morristown at 9 a.m. on Saturday, and trekking 20 miles through Harding and Chatham, then back to Morristown.
Why Go: Because you’d like a workout to start your Saturday morning, or because the weather is warming up. Rain or snow cancels.
Pricing: Free.

Downtown Concert Series
Where/When: At 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts in Madison.
Why Go: Because you can bring a blanket or chair for a free family-friendly outdoor music concert on the lawn of the museum.
Pricing: Free.

Greystone Photo Exhibit
Where/When: From 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at The Morristown and Morris Township Library.
Why Go: You can stop by the library and check out this new collection of photographs.
Pricing: Free.

Knit and Crochet Extravaganza
When/Where: From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Bernards Township Library in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: To come and relax while learning new techniques such as duplicate stitching, crochet, seaming, fair isle and more. So bring your own needles, hooks, yarn, and passion and enjoy a great afternoon of amazing door prizes and refreshments with the company of other crafters.

Bye, Bye Butterfly Program
When/Where: At 2 p.m. on Saturday at Environmental Education Center at Lord Stirling Park in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: For families and all ages to bid farewell to the butterfly for the season. Learn where they go for the cold weather and all about their lifecycles.

Warren Township Beautification and Clean Up Day
When/Where: At 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Warren Township Municipal Complex in Warren.
Why Go: To volunteer some time and "elbow grease" and help keep Warren beautiful.

Learn About the Master of Suspense
When/Where: At 2 p.m. on Saturday at Warren Township Library in Warren.
Why Go: To watch classic scenes from Rear Window, North by Northwest, Psycho, and The Birds and see why Alfred Hitchcock is the master of suspense.
Pricing: Free. Registration required.

Learn About Solar Power
When/Where: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Central Moving Systems in Bridgewater.
Why Go: To learn to save green by going green. Talk to a Alteris Renewables solar expert and learn more about solar power during this national solar tour.
Pricing: Free admission. 

Build Your Own Fire Rescue Helicopter
When/Where: At 9 a.m. on Saturday at The Home Depot in Bridgewater.
Why Go: Because kids ages 5 to 12 can build their own fire rescue helicopters and earn a sense of accomplishment.
Pricing: Free. Registration required.

U.S. Army Blackhawk Helicopter Landing
When/Where: From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Central Jersey Regional Airport in Hillsborough.
Why Go: To step inside a Blackhawk helicopter, sit at the controls, and get your picture taken with Somerset County resident Tony Gianno, who pilots this workhorse of the U.S. military. It's a kid-friendly event that benefits Operation Shoebox and our troops.
Pricing: Free. Donations gratefully accepted. 

Catoberfest and Silent Auction
When/Where: From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Tabby's Place in Ringoes.
Why Go: It's a "purrfect" day filled with activities, live music, pet behavior classes and even a blessing of the animals. A silent auction with offerings of getaways to locales like Sedona and Cape Cod help benefit this sanctuary for rescued and hopeless situation cats.
Pricing: Free admission.

Open House at Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company #3
When/Where: From noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. No. 3 in Hillsborough.
Why Go: To bring the whole family to see all of the fire trucks and live fire demonstrations. There will be music and refreshments and an appearance by Sparkee, the Patriots Mascot. Learn about the importance of fire and it's dangers in a fun and educational setting among neighbors. It's a great time for everyone.
Pricing: Free.

Pumpkin and Mum Sale
Where/When: From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Jefferson Township Fire Department Company No. 2 in Lake Hopatcong.
Why Go: Because you have a chance to get pumpkins and mums from the Jefferson Consolidated PTA.
Pricing: Prices vary.

Car and Bike Show
Where/When: At noon on Sunday at St. Jude's Parish in Hopatcong.
Why Go: While summer is over, the car shows are still around for a limited time.
Pricing: Free.

Art Show
Where/When: From 2:15 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at The Library of the Chathams.
Why Go: Take some time out on Sunday to view “Spectral Selves,” an art show featuring paintings, prints, and drawings worked in oil, acrylic and Conté.
Pricing: Free.

1770s Living History Festival
When/Where: From 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Environmental Education Center at Lord Stirling Park in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: To step back in time to the Colonial period. Costumed period re-enactors will ply their trades, a town crier will deliver the daily news, and military detachments will camp and conduct maneuvers. Enjoy fresh apple cider, kids activities and a hay ride, or have your picture taken in Colonial costume while restrained to the Somerset Gaoler's wooden stock.
Pricing: $4 donation suggested. 

Hauntings in the Somerset Hills Exhibit
When/Where: From 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at The Historical Society of The Somerset Hills in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: To sort out fact and fiction of amazing historical photographs and prints of The Vealtown Tavern and the Blairsden Estate. Pick up a copy of a "Ghosts of Central Jersey" signed by the author or just dare to be intrigued.
Pricing: Free admission. Signed book prices vary.

Historic Codington Farmstead Tour
When/Where: From 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Codington Farmstead in Warren.
Why Go: To tour the house that represents three centuries of the Codington family and get an insight into farm life from the Colonial era to the 20th Century.

Wedding Party Event
When/Where: From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday at Crate and Barrel in Bridgewater.

Angry Bird Hike
