Hopatcong Baseball All-Stars Dominate

Youth team rips Lakeland with all-around strong effort.

The following is from Hopatcong resident Dave Ammiano.

Behind strong pitching, timely hitting and sparkling defense, Hopatcong dropped Lakeland, 4-2.

Combining to allow only two runs in seven innings, Christian Ammiano struck out eight batters in 4 1/3 innings before giving way to Brennan Dickens, who shut the door on the opposition en route to Hopatcong's second straight victory.

P.J. Rodick drove in two runs with two hits while Brandon Vanderhoof and Ammiano each drove in a run for the borough squad.

Hopatcong's Dalton Del Rosso remained hot, going 3-for-3 and scoring two runs.

A clutch double play turned by Del Rosso, C.J. Robertson and Vanderhoof, in addition to sparkling defensive plays by Tyler Robertson, Jake Dorman, Anthony Melillo, Christopher Stundon and Ben Carreno allowed Hopatcong to pull out a tight game in the late innings.
