Roads Closed By Downed Poles in Hopatcong
Police said traffic may not resume until about 8 p.m.
Motorists were asked to avoid Brooklyn Stanhope Road and Wills Avenue in Hopatcong on Friday as two downed utility poles were blocking the roadway.
Hopatcong police said the roads would not be reopened until between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, according to a time estimate provided by Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L). JCP&L crews were on the scene repairing the poles.
As an alternate route, police encouraged drivers to travel on Lakeside Avenue to Brooklyn Mountain Road to Durban Road. Drivers could then take Flora Road on to Wills Avenue.

Our power was out for nearly 2 hours yesterday morning; a bit unnerving when you consider that the Sandy ordeal was less than 2 months ago. What "downed" those 2 poles? There was a heck of a lot of rain (and wind) during the night...

LOL, Lakeside Avenue is in the Northwood section of Hopatcong. They must mean Lakeside Boulevard. Plus they must mean Durban Avenue? bc I believe Durban Road is by Pavinici's/Jewish Center by Hudson Maxim School. And Flora Road?? HAHA, Flora Avenue. Oh boy.....
