Pavinci's had a full house Sunday night and it was all about Sandy. Fueled by Robin DeLorenzo, "Hurricane Hopatcong" was an event created to help families devasted by the storm.

DeLorenzo pulled together friends, including Pavinci's owner, Mario Ferra. "Robin came to me with an idea to help our neighbors and I wanted to help," Ferra said.

The event was designed to benefit three families hit hard by the storm. The Coover family who had three large trees crash onto their house and Bonnie and son, Gavin, had to be rescued by the Hopatcong Volunteer Fire Department.

Margaret Smith lived in the home she grew up in, a residence that had six trees uproot the foundation and caved in the entire house.

The Nicotras family, Mike, Christy, Mikey and Dominic, had the front of their house ripped off by a falling tree. The same house was crushed by a tree in the snowstorm of Halloween 2011.

The event was a success with more than 400 people coming through the doors to offer support and help their neighbors. Prior to the event, more than $3,000 in pre-sale tickets were sold and more than $14,000 in items were donated to be part of the silent auction.

Im surprised to see that Gavin Coovers father Michael coover wasn't even mentioned when he was one of the first responders with the hopatcong fire department to arrive at his own home to rescue his own family. Maybe an important fact to add to the article. The donors should know that during the storm this family was already helping other families in need when this loss occurred. just my 2 cents...

This was an amazing event. We were so happy to attend. Two of our closest friends were the families receiving the benefits. We love you Coover Family and Nicotra family.

Great story, great photos Terry! I apologize for being so scattered during the interview last night, there was just so much going on, I couldn't get my thoughts straight for you! No matter because it was a huge success! Thank you for your support!
