Snow Storm Shuts Hopatcong Schools Friday

District announces closure ahead of 'intense' storm.

 

All Hopatcong Schools will be closed Friday, Feb. 8 due to the blizzard warning issued for the northern part of New Jersey.

The announcement was made early Friday morning as winter snow storm carrying snow and heavy winds approached the area.

Meteorologists predict the storm could dump anywhere between 10 and 16 inches of snow on the area during a 24-hour period between Friday and Saturday.

Roads are clear, could have had an early dismissal

Decision should have been made this morning not last night. Kids could have had a 1/2 day.

While the main roads may be fine you have to consider what shape the other roads are in. The roads back in "The Hills" are often worse than the rest, there are a lot of trees and the roads don't get much sun to melt it off. Better safe than sorry.
