When news of a woman driving into Lake Hopatcong broke in November, residents wanted answers about who the woman was and how she ended up in the lake. This photo was taken on Nov. 19 when the woman, whose identity police have not released, drove into the freezing lake. Two Hopatcong firefighters pictured here, Billy Long and Rob Tallaksen, saved the woman. They said she was lucky to be alive after she was trapped for at least 15 minutes. Former Hopatcong High School star running back Joe Martinek Jr. practiced with the Giants in August after he was signed by Big Blue as an undrafted free agent in April after his collegiate career at Rutgers. Later that month, Martinek was one of the 15 players cut from the roster, but found out in October that he was back on the team on the practice squad. The day this picture was taken Martinek's father Joe Sr. and mother Roxanne, along with Hopatcong Athletic Director Tom Vara came to the Albany, N.Y. practice facility to watch him practice with the defending Super Bowl Champions. The reason it takes at least a year to train a K-9 and going out of state for certifications, always making sure he stayed on track( no pun) all the time. Really it is a full time job, well worth it,but still alot of work. You have to be a very dedicated person, like detective Luciani was. He was to us a beloved family member, but still did his job. we miss him everyday.

I agree with as many puppies that are brought to Hopatcong pound there is one of them who is worthy of becoming a K-9 dog. Granted he would never replace Rosco in your hearts but he or she could at least carry on the good works Rosco did. It benefits all around, a job is filled and a pup gets a chance to live on a happy productive life and some joy is brought to a lot of peoples hearts.
