What Should Go Here? Open Lakeside Location
What should replace Curves, which, after a 10-year run, closed on Tuesday?
It was a difficult day for dozens of people and most especially owner Amy Drake when Curves closed in Hopatcong on Tuesday. After a 10-year run, the gym was forced to shut its doors due to a declining enrollment and rising costs.
Soon the 52 Lakeside Blvd. location will host a new business.
What should it be? There's already a florist and a photography studio in the small strip mall. What would work best at the location?
Tell us in the comments.

I think the "Thyme out" building would be a better suited location for an Ice Cream Parlor
It would be nice to see a Produce or Butcher shop in there.

Good Morning Roll Back--Here we go again!!! LOL As you know, my husband is a "public employee". In the last three years he has received a 50 cent raise. In that time he has had to contribute more to his pension and his health benefits. Before anybody jumps down my throat, I am beyond grateful for both of those and have no problem with contributing to either, however, the paychecks he is bringing home now are LESS than they were three years ago. Just like you, his state and property taxes have continued to rise while the value of his home has declined. I noticed your post is in quotes so I gather you got this information/opinion from some other source than your own opinion. May I politely suggest that you talk to some actual public employees and find out what is really going on? If you are referring to a certain branch of public employees could you please make that clear? My husband works damn hard for every dime he EARNS. Trust me when I tell you this, we are not lounging on a yacht, sipping the finest champagne, while laughing at the taxpayers.

Tammy...ok then I will clarify. Last year when I took a full page ad out in the now defunct LH Weekly (which I initially paid $500 out of my own pocket), I did so because I was so disguisted with the 5-6% real estate tax increases per year and the 3%-5% pay raises in Hopatcong. So since this quote was part of the ad I used "quotations" because I was speaking from some thing I said from that ad. Since that time the tax increases have only continued. FYI...this year your property taxes and others will increase anywhere from 6-7% and suspect with the teacher's new contract and cuts in spending they will receive the same as the borough management employees...a raise of 3% over the next 3 years. I don't know this for a fact because it hasn't by law been posted on the PERC site. Ask Cliff Lundin if he submitted it. So in closing if your husband has not received any raises in the last 3 years. My suggestion is if your husband is able to bridge his pension and find a pay equal postion in Hopatcong....do it. Because it appears Hopatcong borough is some of the municipalities in NJ that just don't get the meaning of "austerity" in these uncertain times.
