Down Time at the Sparta Library, HHS College Financial Aid Seminar

Here's what you need to know for Wednesday.

• Stressed from work or holiday planning? Take a little time to breathe. The Sparta Township Library presents "Cookies, Cocoa, and Candy Canes," which offers some good, old-fashioned down time. From 11 a.m.-2 p.m., drop in for a treat and a little relaxation. The event will be in the Reading Room; you don't even have to register. The library is at 22 Woodport Road in Sparta. For more info, call 973-729-3101.
• A Financial Aid Seminar will be held for college-bound students and their parents Wednesday night in the HHS cafeteria at 7 p.m. By the way, Instant Decision Day for County College of Morris is Wednesday.
  
• Sparta' Township's monthly Zoning Board Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. No agenda had been released by press time. The gathering takes place at the Municipal Building, 65 Main St.
• Two days until the deadline to register for  Hopatcong's 2013 Holiday House Decorating Contest. Judges will select the top three decorated homes at a special event at Pavinci's Italian Grill on Dec. 17. In order to take part, you must register by Friday at 4 p.m. Pick up registration forms at the Municipal Building, 111 River Styx Road, or download it, print it out, fill it out and take it to Borough Hall. If you have questions, call 973-770-2701.  
• Keeping It Clean: In Hopatcong, sanitation crews will head to Garbage Pickup Section B. The Recycling Center will be open from 9 a.m. to noon. In Sparta, check with the online schedule.
