Hopatcong Council Takes Up Resolutions, Sparta Planning Board Talks Master Plan

The daily planner for Hopatcong and Sparta includes the monthly meeting of the Women's Club, reminders for school parents and sanitation schedule information.

Well, Hopatcong and Sparta survived Election Day. Here's what you need to know for Wednesday.

  • It's the first Report Card Day of the 2013-14 school year. Report cards will go home Wednesday for Hopatcong elementary school students. For Hopatcong Middle and High schools, the first marking period ends and scores will be posted online. Head to the Hopatcong Borough Schools website for information. (The marking period for Sparta Township Schools ends Nov. 12.)
  • The Hopatcong Womens's Club meets Wednesday at the Senior Center. The gathering kicks off at 10 a.m. in the lower level of the building.
  • The Hopatcong Borough Council will take up proposed resolutions to form mutual aid agreements with Roxbury and Mt. Olive for animal control services at Wednesday's Mayor/Council meeting. Also on the agenda: a potential police department hire, possible salary increases for staff in  the Senior Center Nutrition Program and a proposed resolution to authorize the Water/Sewer Operator to issue summonses.  The public is invited to attend and to offer input. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at Borough Hall.
  • Also at 7:30 p.m., the Sparta Township Planning Board gathers for its monthly meeting. Among the items to be discussed include amendments to the Master Plan Consistency Referral Report. The meeting takes place in the courtroom of the Municipal Building, 65 Main St.
  • Don't forget, parents: the New Jersey Education Association conference is Thursday and Friday, so school children have the next two days off from school.
  • Keeping It Clean: In Hopatcong, sanitation crews will follow Garbage Pickup Schedule B; recycling will follow Schedule C. The Recycle Center will be open Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon. In Sparta, check with the online schedule.
