Schools' Respect Week Continues, Book Fair at Hudson Maxim Elementary

Here's what you need to know for Tuesday.

  • Respect Week is underway at Hopatcong's Hudson Maxim School, which also offers a Scholastic Book Fair that runs during the school day through Thursday. The week-long focus on kindness, tolerance and compassion is being observed at Sparta Township Public Schools.
  • Recreation will be a focus of discussion of municipal meetings in both our towns Tuesday: The Sparta Recreation Committee gathers at 7:30 p.m. at the Sparta Recreation Department, 22 Woodport Road. The Hopatcong Recreation Committee holds its regular meeting at Borough Hall, 111 River Styx Road, at 8 p.m.
  • The Sparta Township Council meets to discuss matters municipal; no agenda has yet been released. But residents are certainly welcome to attend and to participate. The session starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sparta Town Hall, 65 Main St.
  • Lots of activity at Hopatcong High at 2A Windsor Ave.: Tuesday brings a makeup HSPA math test for seniors and the first HHS Fall Photo Day for underclassmen (it continues Wednesday and Thursday). For parents and teachers, the high school PTO meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the school library. 
  • Keeping It Clean:  In Hopatcong, sanitation crews will follow Garbage Pickup Schedule A and Recycling Schedule D. In Sparta, check with the online schedule.
