Anglers of All Ages Invited to Catfish Fishing Contest
The three heaviest catfish caught will be awarded with cash prizes.
Bring your best fishing rods, set sail and may the heaviest catfish win.
The Knee Deep Club is hosting its annual Lake Hopatcong Catfish Contest the weekend of Aug. 9 and 10 from 6 p.m. Saturday until noon the following day.
Prizes are available for first through sixth place. The cash payout will be based on 80 percent of the respective entry fees.
Entry is $20 for Knee Deep Club members and $25 for non-members. Children 12 and younger are welcome aboard for an additional $5 each.
Entry forms are available at Dows Boat Rental, Lake’s End Marina and on the Knee Deep Club website.
The three heaviest catfish will receive cash prizes, while the fourth, fifth and sixth place winners will receive a $20 gift certificate to Pavinci’s Italian Grill, located at 453 River Styx Road.
The current heaviest catfish ever caught for the contest weighed in at 20 lbs., 12 oz. Last year's winner weighed 3 lbs., 8 oz.
