Life After the Storm, Check Out Events Around Town

Take a break from the power outages and snow, and check out some fun events in the area!

If you've had enough of digging out from under the storm, you may want to treat yourself to one of the following events about town. We have not been able to confirm whether all of these events are still scheduled in light of power outages, so please confirm before you attend. 

 

1. Self Defense Classes at St. Jude Parish, 40 Maxim Dr., Hopatcong on Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. $10 admission. The Gen Lee Ju-Jitsu Club is a self-defense based Martial Art combining the arts of Karate, Judo, Aikido and Savate which gives the student a greater range of techniques to apply to any attack that may be encountered on the street.

Ju-Jitsu is ideal for all ages and skill levels. Students will learn how to kick, punch and guard as well as, fall safely and apply a variety of locks, throws and control techniques.

2. Join the Mom's Club at 9:30 a.m., Nov. 1, meeting at 100 Main St., Stanhope, offering stay-at-home and part-time working moms the opportunity to meet and spend time together. 3. Enjoy conversation at The Theology Table at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 1, at , 50 Hopatchung Rd, Hopatcong, NJ. 

St. Jude's Parish's Theology Table is led by Deacon Tom Friel. The group discusses religion and welcomes all faiths.

4. Learn Irish Dancing! Owner and Instructor, Emily Endean, is TCRG certified and and formerly toured with Riverdance the Show.  She also has 22 years competitive Irish Dance experience.  The Endean academy aims to engage students of any age in the culture of Irish Dance.  Classes are ideal for any age or skill level. Endean Academy of Irish Dance located at ROX PAC Investor's Savings Bank Theater in Succasunna, NJ. Classes are held weekly on Tuesdays, 5:30 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. First class is free. 5. Enjoy the 'Bold Strokes: The Paintings of Chris Kappmeier' at the , 6 Normandy Heights Rd, Morristown, NJ, Admission $10. 

New Jersey artist Chris Kappmeier’s paintings burst with tiny expressionistic specks and dashes of paint that build to capture city vistas and landscapes in their splendor. An artist with a modern take on the traditions of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, Kappmeier says his paintings “call to mind the work of artists such as Van Gogh and Monet, who were also obsessed with visions of vibrant colors.”
