It's not just Tuesday. It's Primary Tuesday, with capital letters. Today's elections will help shape the future of Hopatcong's government, not to mention that of Sussex County and New Jersey. Oh, and there's more happening. So read about it in 5 Things You Need to Know Today.

  1. You Need to Know About Primaries: Hopatcong voters can make their primary picks from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The borough's primaries will be uncontested. , which will help set the stage for November's general elections.
  2. You Need to Know About Helping CERT: Chili's in Mount Olive will host a benefit for Hopatcong's Community Emergency Response Team. If you print and bring the flier attached to this post, 10 percent of your order will go toward CERT.
  3. You Need to Know About a Scholarship Contest: The Knights of Columbus is offering a scholarship to the student, who must be a practicing Catholic, who writes the best 250-word essay on the subject: "What My Catholic Faith Means to Me." Call Scott Cawood at (908) 684-2467, Richard Bunce at (973) 770-3014 or Roy Arrighi at (973) 398-2192 to submit the essay. Deadline is June 12.
  4. You Need to Know About Baseball: The boys had a tremendous season, reaching North 1, Group 2 playoffs as a No. 3 seed before getting bounced in the first round by Pequannock. The Chiefs will play their season's last game at 4 p.m. at home. Four seniors—Joe Lobue, Rob Nadrowski, D.J. Ross and Josh Bishop—will each finish their careers with around 100 hits.
