5 Things: Need a Late Christmas Gift?

Why not give one of these Hopatcong books a try?

So, you're late on Christmas gifts for a loved one, and you don't know what to do.

No worries. Check out these five Hopatcong-related books from the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum at the . Maybe one will make the perfect (belated) stocking stuffer.

  1. "A Century of Summers:" The Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club's First Hundred Years:" The 120-page hardcover book is filled with photos and facts commemorating the yacht club's centennial. Cost: $25.
  2. "Lake Hopatcong Then & Now 2008:" OK, so it's 2011. So what? Not much has changed on the lake in three years, and this book features some of its coolest sights of the early 1900s. Check out pictures of where hotels and pavilions once existed, photos of big-money cottages and old-time amusement parks. Cost: $30.
  3. "Hopatcong, a Century of Memories:" A photo history of the borough's first 100 years, including shots of celebrities and landmarks. Cost: $15.
  4. "Illustrated Guide to Lake Hopatcong For Season of 1898:" Woah, hello, retro. At 98 pages, it details what life was like on the lake more than a century ago. It also has a new introduction from Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum President Martin Kane. Cost: $15.
  5. "Greetings From Bertrand Island Amusement Park:" More than 200 photographs can be found in this 128-page book, which features more than 20 pages in full cover. And while you're at it, a Bertrand Island Amusement Park commercial.
