BOE Seeks Task Force, Hopatcong Star Cut From Giants Top Local News

A large turnout at the latest BOE meeting saw parents question Hopatcong High School's ranking in New Jersey Monthly magazine. Board members agreed with the need for change, defending recent efforts that have gone into improvements over many areas. They also asked for residents to come forward to join a task force for improvement.

A Hopatcong man resisted arrest and assaulted cops after responding to a reported disturbance on Windsor Avenue, according to Hopatcong police. He also allegedly said "are you ready for fun?" before five officers detained him at headquarters.

Hopatcong's marching band is back in full swing this year with 55 students from grades seven through 12 participating. 

Out of the nine new teachers and staff members joining the Hopatcong Borough Schools this fall, six are returning and three are new. 

Noreen Lazariuk will soon be a familiar name in Hopatcong when she takes the reins as high school principal in September.
