Cars, Charges and Casino — Week in Review

Hopatcong saw its Board of Rec continue an uphill battle, among other news.

Ever try to remember what you ate for breakfast, forget and have a sudden panic attack?

Eggs and…uh? No! I know this! Ahhh!

We're at everything: This car show, that public meeting, this community gathering, that baseball game. Sometimes it's hard for us to keep track of our schedules, let alone recall where we put our keys.

So, we like to toss together a rundown called Week in Review, in which we post links to all of our stories. It gives you a place to catch up with us. And it gives us a place to catch up with ourselves.

Without further ado…

Sunday

Kicked off the week with Hopatcong Patch editor Brendan Kuty's weekly column. Here he opined over the dilemma Hopatcong High School coaches will face in 2011. Then we posted a video with Mayor Sylvia Petillo, in which she discussed the town's new Save Our Dogs and Cats campaign.

Monday

Checked in with Hopatcong High School graduate and Division I wrestling phenom Zach Rey about his summer workouts. Next, we put together a pair of photo galleries—one from Saturday's Casino Night at St. Jude's Parish and another from Sunday's Car Show at the Catholic church. Ended the day with our newest weekly feature, Searching for Home, where we posted a photo and description of several animals in Hopatcong's Animal Pound.

Tuesday

Started with an update on Hopatcong's Tri Municipal Trail Link System. Moved on to a Board of Recreation preview, which ended up pretty darn accurate, and an organized pick-up volleyball game from Monday at St. Jude's. Finished with a band profile: Goodbye Friday.

Wednesday

Like Hopatcong Patch figured, facility usage fees were the big issue at Tuesday's Board of Recreation meetings. Also, the board donated money to the band program, Hopatcong's own Caitlin St. Angelo's business is kicking behind, the Hopatcong Pirates were gearing up for the playoffs and the youth tennis program was getting ready to go.

Thursday

Began with news that Northwood Inn could continue is lakefront delivery service, despite some zoning office contention. Next, contributor Joe Dimeck spent a little time at the town's dumps and came back with this interesting story. A breakdown of the town's Firewise Communities Program followed. Later, we posted a preview of Friday night's movie get-together at Vets Field.

Friday

Brought back two stories from Thursday's Open Space Commission meeting: The town's closer to getting a new open space plan and lights on Vets Field's softball diamond. Then came two weekly features: an open house weekend rundown and a look ahead to Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday

Brought back another Photo of the Week, taken by Warren Westura, photographer extraordinaire, and this Week in Review piece.
