Catfish Contest Brings Out 50 Anglers

If you like fishing on Lake Hopatcong, you probably like catfish.

If you like fishing on Lake Hopatcong, you probably like catfish. So much so, in fact, that two Laek Hopatcong residents had the winning catches in the Knee Deep Club’s catfish derby.

More than 50 anglers braved the weather to fish the event. A total of $1120 was collected, of which 20% ($224) went to the club's stocking fund, leaving a prize pool of $896. The winners were as follows:

First Place: Michael Campagna, Lake Hopatcong, with a 5lb 11oz channel catfish, $448.

Second Place: Eddie Mackin, Lake Hopatcong, with a 1lb 10oz channel catfish, $269.

Third Place: William Smith, Budd Lake, with a 1lb 9oz white catfish, $179.
