Follow the World Trade Center Beams to Hopatcong

Hopatcong official details Thursday's route.

Hopatcong's 9/11 monument, set to be unveiled on the 10th anniversary of the attacks in September, will be bookended by two steel beams from the World Trade Center.

The beams will arrive in Hopatcong on Thursday. Borough Fire Chief Mike Rahill detailed the beams' routes, in case residents would like to follow along. All times are approximate.

7 a.m.: Depart for John F. Kennedy Airport's Hangar 13, where WTC artifacts have been cataloged and stored.

8:30 a.m.: Arrive at airport, load steel beams.

Noon to 1 p.m.: Arrive at borough hall after taking the George Washington Bridge to Route 80 West to Lakeside Boulevard. The beams will then be stored, most likely at the Department of Public Works building.
