Gas Stations Opening in Sparta Thursday, Police Say
Shell stations on Woodport Road and Sparta Avenue will open at 8 a.m.
Sparta Police said there will be two gas stations open at 8 a.m. Thursday for residents to get the chance to fill up their tanks, after many have waited hours in line, some without the chance to even make it to the front.
The two stations that will be open are the Shell stations located at 211 Woodport Road and 85 Sparta Avenue, Sgt. John Paul Beebe said.
Beebe said the Exxon and Quick Chek stations in the township opened up at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night, but were sold out by 8:45 p.m. after going through 3,000 gallons.

He said the police had to send some residents home because hundreds showed up and backed the lines up.
