Hopatcong Scouts Take Trip Into (Controlled) Wild

Pack 88 sleep in Philadelphia Zoo tree house, hikes and hunts.

Talk about a wild trip.

Or maybe it was a wild animal trip.

A group of 24 Hopatcong Cub Scouts stayed over the Philadelphia Zoo on Saturday night as part of its Night Flight program. The children slept inside a treehouse, took a late-night hike, went on a scavenger hunt and got a private tour of the zoo.

But, most importantly, the kids learned "all about animals and how to protect them from becoming extinct," Pack 88 trip coordinator Marlee Carrasquillo said.

Carrasquillo also said the hike was one of the trip's highlights. Carrasquillo said it "would not be forgotten" due to the pouring rain. "But waking to a beautiful sunny day on Sunday, we got to enjoy seeing all the animals," Carrasquillo said.
