Hurricane Couldn't Scare These Wakeboarders

While Hurricane Irene made her presence felt in the borough almost all weekend, the participants at the Garden State Wakeoff couldn't have asked for better conditions.

Calm winds and smooth waters helped the event, hosted by the Lake Forest Yachet Club, along without a hitch.

With rock music blasting in the background, announcers made the wakeboarders look like stars, talking over loudspeakers about their moves.

And if you were wondering: a wakeboarders fit their feet into plastic harnesses atop a long, flat board and perform tricks while getting pulled by waterboats.
