Hurricane Couldn't Scare These Wakeboarders

Lake Hopatcong's Garden State Wakeoff went off without a hitch Saturday before Irene hit.

While Hurricane Irene made her presence felt in the borough almost all weekend, the participants at the Garden State Wakeoff couldn't have asked for better conditions.

Calm winds and smooth waters helped the event, hosted by the Lake Forest Yachet Club, along without a hitch.

With rock music blasting in the background, announcers made the wakeboarders look like stars, talking over loudspeakers about their moves.
