K9 Update, Council Session Ahead This Week

Take time to honor those lost this Memorial Day.

The last week of May is upon us, and as always, there’s plenty going on to take note of in Hopatcong and Sparta.

Start the week off, however, taking a moment to remember and honor the military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country as we celebrate Memorial Day.

Let’s take a quick look at the stories you can expect this week.

We’ll be taking a look at how Eli, the Hopatcong Police Department’s new K9 is progressing through the training academy, which concludes on June 21. Eli and officer Thomas Snyder will be in full force by the  end of June.

Keep an eye out for a great photo gallery from the recent Relay For Life event as well.

Throughout the week, you’ll be able to weigh in on our question of the week, which is asking readers about teacher contract negotiations. Do you think they should be open to the public, or remain behind closed doors?

We’ll also be reporting on the Sparta Mayor and Council meeting set to take place Tuesday, May 28. Be on the lookout for a few stories coming from that session.

Early in the week we’ll be reporting on a graduation situation going on at Sparta High School, where a junior will take part in closing ceremonies after the school board approved the student to participate. The pupil completed 120 credits necessary to receive a diploma.

Have a great week!
