Lake Hopatcong Ice-Fishing Contest on the Way

The following is from the Knee Deep Club.

On Jan. 22, the Knee Deep Club of Lake Hopatcong will hold the first of its ice-fishing contests on Lake Hopatcong.

The contest will begin at 6 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. The contest entry fee is $20 for club members and $25 ($20 entry $5 insurance) for non-members.

An 80 percent payout of entry fees will go to the anglers weighing in the three heaviest perch or crappie, pickerel and the three heaviest fish of any other species except muskies.

Entry forms are available online at www.kneedeepclub.org or at the clubs official weigh stations located at Dow's Boat Rental, Nolan's Point, Lake Hopatcong and Lake's End Marina, Mount Arlington Blvd., Landing. Mail-in entries must be received by Jan. 20 in-person entries can be made up until 8 a.m. the morning of the contest.

In the event the contest is postponed due to unsafe ice conditions the contest will be rescheduled for Feb. 19. If the contest is held on Jan. 22 a second contest will be held on Feb. 19 under the same rules. Entry forms for this second contest will be available on line and at the weigh stations.
