Lake Hopatcong Museum Reopens

Museum will be open every Sunday through Dec. 18.

Lake Hopatcong afficionados now have a place to go to get their lake fix.

This fall the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum is open on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. through Dec. 18.

Located in a rustic 19th century building which served as a lock tender’s house on the Morris Canal, the museum offers an entertaining and enlightening look at the history of New Jersey’s largest lake.  Recognized as one of the finest small museums in New Jersey, a visit will bring you back to an era when Lake Hopatcong was a major northeastern resort and some 40 hotels and rooming houses graced its shores.  From celebrities to castles to amusement parks, Lake Hopatcong had it all.
