Lake Hopatcong Trout Contest to Honor Club's Fallen Trustee

Harold Mabee died earlier this year.

Here they go again.

The Knee Deep Club will be out on Lake Hopatcong on Sunday. And this time, it's the trout that should be worried.

The club will host its annual Trout Contest on the Lake from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eighty percent of entry fees will be awarded to fishermen with the three heaviest trout. Rod and reel combinations, donated by club director Tim Clancy and trustee Mike Truglio, will also be awarded to the winners.

Club member Lou Marcucci said this year's contest will be held in memory of longtime trustee Harold Mabee, who died earlier this year. Marcucci also said the Mabee family will award an addition $100 to the club member with the heaviest trout.

The club and the state's Division of Fish and Wildlife have stocked about 12,000 trout in Lake Hopatcong this year, Marucci said.
