PayPal May Give Refunds From Fake Sandy Relief Fund

Spokesperson says online company will assist authorities however possible.

PayPal spokesperson Bergen Kay said the online money transfer system would cooperate with law enforcement if criminal charges are filed and assist with refunds dependent on court outcomes, the report said.

, after an investigation revealed the duo set up the Hurricane Sandy Relief Foundation without charity status.

The suit claimed Sandberg and Terracino solicited $631,000 in donations through the fund, with less than 1-percent being given to victims of the devastating 2012 natural disaster.

Of the funds donated, the pair is accused of pushing $13,000 of it into their own bank accounts.
