PHOTOS: Pound Project Reaches Critical Point

Hopatcong's community effort results in foundation of new building.

The Hopatcong Pound Project hasn't slowed down.

Workers spent time recently creating a foundation for the new building, which will be 47-by-24 feet. The new structure will stand beside the old building, but will provide more care space for pets and room for employees and medical assistance.

"I assure that this money is well spent to further what the project and its supporters are working toward as something we will all be proud of," said Wendy Ciari, Hopatcong Pound Project president, in a joint email with Vice President Ed Van Orden. "We still ask for continuing support as we promise you something great for the animals as well as the community involvement."
