Want to be king of Lake Hopatcong? Then grab your reel.

Hopatcong's Knee Deep Club will host its King of the Lake contest on the Oct. 15-16 weekend. The winner of the multi-species battle will be determined by amount of points scored.

Points five, three and two will be awarded to anglers weighing in the three heaviest hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, pickerel, channel catfish and trout.

Points of three, two and one will be awarded for the three heaviest yellow perch, white perch, crappie and catfish.

Cost: $20 for club members, $25 for non-club members—there's a $5 insurance charge.

Eighty percent of entry fees will go to the three anglers with the most points. The rest will go toward the club's restocking fund.

The contest starts at 5 a.m. on Oct. 15 and ends at 2 p.m. Oct. 16. Entry forms are available at kneedeepclub.org or at Dow's Boat Rental in Jefferson and Lake's End Marina in Landing. In-person entries can be made until 8 a.m. Oct. 15.
