There is exactly one week until Garden State voters begin to line up at area polling places to cast ballots in the 2013 general election, and that means deadlines and important dates to remember.
Tuesday is the final day those wishing to vote by mail may apply via the mail for a special ballot, according to the Sussex County Clerk's Office. If you are able to meet that deadline, know that the clerk must have received your completed application by Wednesday.
The clerk's office has Wednesday as its own deadline as well. Sample ballots, by law, must be mailed to each voter by noon on the Wednesday preceding Election Day.
On Saturday, the office will be open for special extended hours to allow residents to early vote. According to the Sussex County website, the clerk's staff will be on duty from 9 a.m. until noon to serve residents, and they will only be handling Early Voting. The website recommends that those who wish to vote on Saturday call the office to confirm the hours it will be available to the public.
The day before the Nov. 5 election, Monday, is the last day to apply in person and vote a mail-in ballot. The clerk's office will take applications until 3 p.m.
Tuesday, of course, is Election Day. Polls will be open from 6 a.m.-8 p.m.
