It will be business as usual for Sussex County following Tuesday's general election.

Hopatcong and Sparta residents chose to keep its Republican legislative team intact. State Sen. Steven V. Oroho and General Assembly members Alison Littell McHose and F. Parker Space were sent to Trenton for another term, handing defeat to Democrats William "Bill" Weightman and Susan M. Williams.

On the county level, Republican Sheriff Michael Strada was unopposed. Surrogate Gary Chuisano of the GOP was able to withstand a challenge by outspoken Independent candidate Robert "Bob" Morris. And Sussex County Freeholders Richard Vohden and George Graham, both Republicans, faced no ballot opposition.

The same holds true for the Hopatcong Borough Council. Republican incumbents Michael Francis and Richard Hoer defeated Democrat Mara Modes and Independent John Pezzino to retain their seats on the borough's governing body.

There was no municipal race in Sparta Township.

Congratulations to Richard Hoer and Michael Francis two outstanding public servants. The republicans came out in force for their party to combat the threat of the American way of life by the Democrats, Hopatcong Republicans are true patriots, God bless you, and Thank you.I'm disappointed losing, but happy with the results.Being an independent and not having the advantage of having the party voters, I am humbled by the 1000 plus Hopatcong residence that cast their vote for me. Thank you so very much.Hopatcong is a wonderful town filled with wonderful people and I had a real blast this campaign season meeting and talking with so many of you.Another election season will be here before we know it, and you can be sure that I will be back in it next year.I wish Michael and Richard all the best. I also feel that Michael and Richard should be commended for Running a good clean positive campaign. God bless and my prayers for a successful term. John Pezzino
