Farmers Market Season Ends, but the Harvest Continues

Fresh produce event closes its season with Christmas in October and looks forward to next year.

As the cool weather creeps in, I am reminded of the season of thankfulness, a wonderful time of year when families come together around the table and say what they are thankful for. I am thankful to live in such an amazing community.
Thankful that even when the farmers market ends, farmers continue to sell produce long after the snow flies… Thankful our community believes in supporting our farmers who produce healthy, fresh and local foods.

Thanks to them, we are less dependent on outside resources. We are thankful to all those who came to the farmers market this year and participated in the weekly prize drawing, petting the animals and enjoying the musical entertainment.

I am thankful to those who donated their unsold fresh veggies to the food pantry every week….thankful for Michael Francis and Marie Galate for greeting us happily every week.

Most of all, I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to work in this amazing community, filled with such hardworking, and incredible people. Thank you!

Two weeks ago the market celebrated its last Sunday of the 2013 season with the theme “Christmas in October.” A huge thank you goes to Santa and his Elf, who greeted the children and their families. It was an incredible sight to see so many families and friends bring together the community and share in the market together. I am thankful to have the most amazing vendors who generously provide an item each week for our market drawing.

Since the market has now ended, the market vendors will still be busy selling throughout the winter.
