Gingerbread Houses Make for a Sweet Experience at Hopatcong High School

The large gingerbread houses should be on display at each Hopatcong Borough school.

Hopatcong High School's Freshmen In Transition Program held its first-ever Gingerbread House Making Extravaganza Dec. 12. According to Superintendent of Schools Cynthia Randina, the event was a big, sweet success that made the seasonal spirit visible throughout the school district.

Volunteer mentors from the junior and senior classes invited freshmen and Hopatcong Middle School eighth graders to an event dedicated to creating holiday gingerbread houses. The FIT leaders guided and assisted the younger students with the activity. The largest houses created were donated to each school building in the district for display.

“There was a lot of sugar and candy eaten and a lot of houses built," said FIT leader Amy Fernandez. "The first Gingerbread House Making Extravaganza was a great success and we all had fun!”
