Hopatcong Marching Chiefs Take Top Prize at Sussex Firefighters' Parade

High school marching musicians do their town proud.

The Hopatcong High School Marching Band took a prestigious county prize this month, according to Superintendent of Schools Cynthia Randina.

On Oct. 5, the Marching Chiefs provided some of the pomp and tuneful cacophony by taking to the streets of Franklin as part of the 94th Annual Sussex County Firemen's Association Inspection Day and Parade. For their efforts, the young musicians were named collectively the event's Best Marching Band.

The event, sponsored by the Franklin Fire Department and dedicated to , featured fire companies, bands and marching groups from a host of central and northern New Jersey municipalities, including Caldwell, Hopatcong, Morris Plains,  Parsippany-Troy Hills and Sparta.
