Middle School Dance Welcomes Students, Cures Early Fall 'Illness'

Welcome to School Dance was the first HMS PTO-sponsored student event this year.

In the first few weeks of the school year now underway, a highly contagious affliction spread rampant throughout the Hopatcong Middle School student body, according to a statement from Hopatcong Borough Schools. Teachers and administrators reportedly were at a loss to pinpoint the cause of the illness, which affected approximately 150 students. Experts—defined here as members of the HMS Parent-Teacher Organization, were able to identify the malady with ease as Dance Fever.

To cure the local version of the Rockin' Pneumonia (alternately called the Boogie-Woogie Flu), the PTO sponsored a Welcome Back To School dance on Sept. 27 in the middle school gymnasium.

The dance, which was free to all who attended, was the first of a series of monthly events the PTO will present for the students. Future planned events
include movie nights, activity nights, fundraisers and, of course, additional dances.
