Sparta College Student Adds 'Teacher' to Her Title

Brianna Reigstad is one of 21 University of Scranton undergraduates getting their first crack at teaching young scholars.

It's been a big step forward for a young woman from Sparta. 

Brianna Reigstad, a college student at the University of Scranton, is among 21 education majors spending the fall semester as a student teacher at 14 schools in nine Pennsylvania public school districts.

Reigstad, a senior studying early and primary education at the Jesuit university, and a Dean's List scholar, has been teaching at Kennedy Elementary School in the Scranton School District.

The teacher in training graduated in 2010 from Sparta's Pope John XXIII High School‎, where she excelled in basketball. She is the daughter of Sparta Township Police Chief Ernst Reigstad.
