Joseph F. Rawley, U.S. Navy Veteran, Dies at 77

Rawley was a member of St. Therese Church of Succasunna and its Knights of Columbus Council No. 6320.

Joseph F. Rawley, of Hopatcong died Wednesday at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare’s in Dover, according to a notice on the website of Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home. He was 77.

Born in Orange, Rawley lived in Union and Elmwood Park prior to moving to Hopatcong 17 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1961 and worked as a telephone equipment technician for AT&T in King of Prussia, Pa., until his 1985 retirement.

He was a parishioner of St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in Succasunna and a member of its Knights of Columbus Council #6320.

He is survived by his wife, Bernadette Calandriello Rawley, daughter Nancy Rawley, brother Robert Rawley, sister Anne Saldich, brother-in-law Drew Calandriello, sisters-in-law Madeline Rawley and Mary Calandriello and grand-dog Smokey.

A celebration of Joseph Rawley's life will take place Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road in Landing. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Therese Church, 151 Main St., Succasunna. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Newark.
