Lois Paulus Dies at 81: Was Christian Broadcasting Network Prayer Counselor

Paulus' family said the mother of three and community volunteer celebrated her faith in every part of her life.

Lois C. Paulus died  Sunday at her home in Hopatcong at the age of 81, says a notice on the website of Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home.

The Brooklyn native and Hunter College graduate lived in South Plainfield and Warren prior to moving to Hopatcong 10 years ago.

Serving her god was a priority in her life, according to her family. Paulus served as a prayer counselor for the Christian Broadcasting Network and sang in the choirs for Warren's Trinity United Church and the First Presbyterian Church of Berkshire Valley in Jefferson Township. 

Paulus also gave back to the community as a Girl Scout leader, as an active volunteer with the Lyons Veterans Administration Hospital in Basking Ridge and as president of Women’s Aglow of Basking Ridge. 

Her family also said she was a wonderful cook and an avid knitter and gardener.

Paulus is survived by husband William Paulus Jr.; children William W. and Misse Paulus, Susan L. Ormesher, and Lori B. and Jim LaMaire; grandchildren Elizabeth and Daniel Salcedo, Brice Ormesher, Matthew Ormesher, Katie Paulus, Emily Paulus, Brent LaMaire and Jordan LaMaire.

Private funeral arrangements were handled by the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home in Landing.
