I'll remember Babe smiling. The conversations were always quick—how much could you say in the time it takes to buy a newspaper?—but pleasant.

Babe was one of those people who make life in Hopatcong so pleasant. She was part of so many people’s day. I always looked forward to my Saturday morning coffee and lottery ticket. I’d tell her that this is the one we’ve been waiting for and she would always say “Lots of luck Honey.” We only spoke for a minute of two but I would always leave the store happier and brighter. I think everyone in Hopatcong knew and loved Babe and we will all miss her.

I met Babe long befor I became an employee of Quick Chek, she always made me smile and I would love to jest with her humor, she made some great faces, that's how I met her and I was a customer. Then I joined Quick Chek and trained in Babes store for 1 week and she said you are going to go places baby, I was just happy to laugh with her and joke on the side with comments you cannot let customers know. She was and is a mentor in my life, I loved her and will miss her but keep her in my soul. Peace Babe and if there is music where your at then like Joan and I would say, "Lets Rock and Roll" Babe to you for being there for so many people who just wanted to see you and hear your OPINION and say Hello! The rock n roll thing of course is 50's but hey that's your era. They all loved your Music. Peace and Love Val , Thanks for all your kindness, advice and love, What a Woman, What a Person!!!!

I can't believe Babe is gone, she was such a doll.. I would always kid with her at the register in the morning I would say "Hi Ya Gorgeous, and she would say hello my love, we were teasing it brightened both are days... I loved her sense of humor, it was one thing when they closed the store and broke that crew up but when I heard Babe passed I was at the lakeside QC at night getting some coffee, the minute one of the girls told me I felt my heart drop to my feet, I got my coffee fast and all but ran out of the store. I am not a man prone to tears but when I hit my car, I must have cried forever, Babe was more than somebody who worked at QC, she made you feel like family, I can say this with no fear of contradiction, she was the kind of person that instantly made you feel at like you were always a welcomed sight. Babe, if you are listening, you are missed by this customer, and I am certain you are in heaven, making them smile and laugh, you were a tough cookie... God Bless you, I hope to see you again gorgeous... keep a space open for me on the line :)

Been here for 20 years myself now. Babe was a staple in Hopatcong and my life! 17 years ago when my child was an infant she made me leave him (in his carry seat) on the check out counter where she could watch him while I got my coffee. A small gesture of help, but with ever lasting impact on both myself and my son. All the following years neither of us could walk in the store without a warm and friendly compliment from her! So sad she's gone now, sniff, I just heard the news. I wished I could have paid my respects. May her soul soar with the eagles as her memory warms our hearts! RIP Babe!

I'm so sad to hear this. I used to work at the video store when it was there, and I was in Quick Check every day for my coffee...and so was Babe. When I remember Quick Check, she's the first thing that comes to my mind. She was always so kind to everyone who walked in the door. My thoughts are with her family and friends.
