Sparta Homemaker Jean Louise Steiger Dies at 85
Steiger was a homemaker who raised two children and a member of Sparta United Methodist Church.
Sparta resident Jean Louise Steiger died last Wednesday at Leisure Chateau Care Center in Lakewood. She was 85 years old.
Born in Jermyn, Pa., Steiger lived in Lindenhust, N.Y., prior to moving to Sparta in 1968. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sparta United Methodist Church. Her longtime spouse, John R. Steiger, passed away in 2012.
Steiger is survived by children Gary Lee Steiger of Sparta and John Richard and Cheryl Steiger of Frankford Township and grandchildren Mindy and Bradley Steiger.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St. in Newton, with a viewing between 9-10 a.m. Interment will follow in Valley View Memorial Park in Montdale, PA.
