Good Samaritan at Hopatcong Quick Chek

We always hear about the bad things people, especially teenagers, do. I had an experience yesterday that shows there are wonderful teenagers out there, we just don't hear about them nearly enough. I was on my way back to work after running home at lunch time when my rear tire blew. All the tires are old and I knew I needed to get new ones, but I kept putting it off. Luckily, I was only doing 25mph and wasn't on the highway (where I was headed). I pulled into the Hopatcong Quick Chek by the air tanks to hopefully fill the tire, but when I got out, I saw that was hopeless. The tire had just broken as though someone had cut it all the way around. As I got back into my car to call for help, a very nice young man, who had been putting air in his tires, knocked on my window and asked, "Ma'am, would you like me to change your tire for you." He took care of it for me, and evidently he is always a helpful person. One of his friends saw him and came over and said, "What are you doing now? You are always helping someone out." He just smiled and continued working on changing my tire. He put the old tire in the trunk, as well as the jack. I thanked him and he started to walk away. I told him to wait a minute and got a $20 out of my purse, which was all I had on me at the time. He refused it a couple of times, but I told him he did me a HUGE favor and he deserved it. So, he finally smiled and took the money. I was so flustered that this happened, I never got his name. But, it was certainly great to deal with such a nice, respectful young man. His parents should be very proud.  So, good ones are out there. Unfortunately, they are rarely considered newsworthy unless they are stealing, killing, bullying, etc.
