Back when Brendan Kuty was a reporter for the Hopatcong Patch it was my favorite go to website every day. I remember seeing him at Dunkin Donuts and contributing pictures to the site. Brendan was knocked around about his spelling or grammar and that drove me crazy, but I have learned in life there are people who get a great feeling of power by knocking another person down. They call them bullies in today’s world. I call them cowards, then and now. Anyway Brendan took the time to go to EVERY town event, Council meeting, storm reporting and so on, and so on. I knew what the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Senior Citizens, Council, Mayor and general town events that were going on and/or what was coming up. He made sure we had pictures to go along with the stories. He reported not only the bad that was around us, but the good, every day good. Since Brendan has left I have noticed that the Hopatcong Patch not only merged with Sparta (no disrespect to Sparta here) I think Sparta and Hopatcong are strong enough to stand alone, but the sad part is “The Patch” at this time is a big money loss for AOL and they are consolidating and discontinuing sites. What really is wrong is we have let a few take over this site in the comments section. I am all for free speech so here comes my two cents. 1) Do not repeat the same thing over and over again. Point – I have my own mind and like a$$ holes we all have one! No matter what I say I doubt I will change your mind and you are not going to change mine. So if after the first post against me if I do not agree with you, lets just agree to disagree. 2) Name calling is just rude and immature. 3) I have fault with anyone not willing to post their true identity and hide behind a hip tag name (again there are some that I know who you are but sorry I still feel the same way). I have, not only my name but also a picture on my post so no matter if I am right or I am wrong I stand 100% for what I say. I really enjoy seeing all thoughts on any matter, but when I am bombarded with the same thing over and over and over again I start to doubt the agenda. Case in point – Hopatcong taxes being a Lake front homeowner I can assure you I am NOT happy right now. I have reached out to many people from many towns (along with people here on the Patch) to try and get some help or answers to what we can do to change this. I have to say West Milford has given me the best information. Unfortunately it was not the information I was hoping for so off to plan B. So what is that? I have come back to my core and that is put up, or shut up. To all you nay sayers and negative Nellie’s out there if you did not stay in Hopatcong and run for office then shut-up, for all the current nay sayers run for office! You cry for black and white and to remove the gray? Then step up, I have been ask am I a leader? I do not know if this is a lead I want to jump to, but I have decided to put up. That starts with me believing in my town, believing in all who truly love this town. To those who want to make a diffance and to help make a change, for the better, in Hopatcong stand up to the “Nay sayers”. Going forward I am taking Brendan’s approach to Hopatcong, as I was not born and raised here as he was, he has taught me to look for the good in all our town has to offer. Brendan Kuty thanks you for starting a wonderful place of information of our town. I hope what ever little I will add from now forward is positive for I believe eat, breath negative you become blind. Eat; breath positive and the sun will caress you soul.P.S. To those who will knock me on spelling and/or grammar I will let you know ahead of time – I am dyslexic numeric and alpha. I have learned to not be ashamed or held back by my disability but to embrace it as it has made me who I am. Last words - I am sorry that you have not come to terms with yours.
