3 Tractor Trailers Crash, Cause Fuel Spill on Route 80, Police Say

Traffic was already delayed due to an earlier accident.

An accident involving three tractor trailers and a small fuel spill occurred on Route 80 East on Wednesday night, state police said.

Fermi Hamlet of Union City was operating a tractor trailer on Route 80 when he hit another tractor trailer in front of him operated by Michael Beck of Clearfield, Pa, according to police. Police said Beck’s truck hit another one in front of him, but did not say who was driving that vehicle.

Hamlet was taken by Medevac to Morristown Medical Center, where he was treated for a laceration to the head that was not life threatening, Lt. Stephen Jones of the New Jersey State Police said. Beck was taken to St. Clare’s Hospital, also for injuries that were not life threatening.
